Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes in Pregnant Women With COVID-19 Admitted to Imam Khomeini Hospital of Sari, Iran, 2019 - 2020

Background: The COVID-19 infection may adversely affect both the mother and baby. Evaluation identification of aggravating factors can help prevent adverse outcomes. Objectives: present study aimed to examine pregnant women with evaluate disease outcomes in Sari, Iran. Methods: case series was performed on 17 hospitalized for Sari. A convenience sampling method used. First, researcher took demographic information medical history obtained informed consent from all participants. Then, selected subjects were examined inclusion exclusion criteria, a throat swab sample taken eligible ones PCR. PCR amniotic fluid neonatal samples at pregnancy termination. Six weeks after delivery, status rehospitalization baby, breastfeeding status, due COVID-19, state depression evaluated by 21-item questionnaire over phone. collected data analyzed SPSS version 23 using Chi-square test. Results: Out 19 participants, (68%) had positive results laboratory tests. prevalence preterm labor, admission intensive care unit, vertical transmission significantly high (P < 0.050). frequency ICU higher diabetes infected = 0.025). There no newborn but one postpartum (9.5%) two cases formula feeding (11.8%) reported. Conclusions: Due risk maternal during probability transmission, it is recommended take special precautions this period.
